Want an opportunity to check out Rockland County’s most interestingly designed, state-of-the-art, funkiest, unusual and plain old gorgeous kitchens? Then save the date for Rivertown Film’s second annual Kitchen Tour Fundraiser on Saturday, June 9th!  The self-guide. Ticket/guide books will be available startin at 9:30 on June 9, at the South Nyack Village Hall and the Outside In in Piermont. The kitchens open at 10am and close at 4pm, when there will be a reception at Piermont’s Outside In. Here’s a few examples of what you will see:

Rose Estate
Magnificent 1910 English country Tudor home with spectacular views of the Hudson River from every room, including the heart of the house, the renovated expansive kitchen, butstill there from the early 1900sthe butler’s pantry with service call buttons and a silver sink!

Julie and Julia  You did see that film about world famous Julia Child, didn?t you? Meryl Streep as Julia! The crew hung out in the kitchen of this 106-year-old home. Several television commercials have also originated here.

Lofty  A 1970s contemporary house hanging high on the cliffs above the Hudson River lets the outside in through glass walls everywhere, and in itsastonishing kitchen is a button that releases a drop-down rotating TV set.

Ikea Small Wonder  Want to click your heels three times and take a quick trip to Sweden? A Swedish tile stove that weighs more than a ton heats half of the house, and the rest is striking Ikea and Restoration Hardware. The kitchen hasappeared in countless ads and commercials.

Hopper to Hollywood  Edward Hopper liked to wander over and paint from this view of the river.  And, evidently, he also painted the walls! – guess he wasn’t yet a national celebrity.  No murals though. This house is currently owned by a screen writer and director who has made his mark, who still enjoys the use of the original dumb waiter to stock his attractive kitchen.
