After the death of her spouse, Edie Windsor was presented with a huge estate tax bill because federal tax benefits given to opposite-sex couples were denied to same-sex couples. Offended by this, Edie and attorney Roberta Kaplan decided to sue. They and other key participants recount the legal battle that ended with the Supreme Court decision that discrimination against same-sex couples was unconstitutional, paving the way for the right to marry in every state.
