Before the film there will be a musical tribute to Nina Simone by Nina’s brother and Music Director, Jazz/Blues legend Sam Waymon, and his band.

The life of one of America’s most unique musicians is recounted in a moving biographical, musical, and social history. Prevented from pursuing a career in classical music, Nina Simone mixed her classical training with blues and jazz. She responded to the civil rights era as both a musician and an activist, and by the late 60s she was a legend. USA, 2015, 110 minutes

Meet the Filmmaker: Director Jeff L. Lieberman together with Nina’s brother and musical director, Sam Waymon, with be present to discuss the film. The discussion will be moderated by attorney and playright Alice Crowe.
